Weekend 5 - Boats/Ships - February 5, 2023
If nautical nonsense is something you wish...😀
More various vessels from our trip down to the NC coast.
First, a cool water taxi for BizzyBee Water Taxi from Wilmington, NC.

A boat.
My nautical knowledge is lacking, so details will be pretty scant on some of these.
Ferry Trip - Kure Beach to Southport, NC
During our expedition to Wilmington, NC and the surrounding areas, we decided to take a ride on the ferry, crossing the Cape Fear River, starting in Kure Beach and docking in Southport. This was a spur of the moment decision, and we did it purely for fun, not to actually travel from destination to destination. And fun it was! It took about 25 minutes from boarding to docking (not including time waiting at the Kure Beach landing).
Our ship, the "Fort Fisher".

And boarding.

And some scenery from the voyage.

I had visited before as a kid, but this time photos were my mission objective. The area has been significantly developed since my earlier visit, with a very nice visitor center, and a boardwalk around the entire ship. This time, I didn't go into the visitor center or aboard the ship, due to various constraints. Maybe next time!
I'll give a fairly brief rundown of specifications and history.
USS 'North Carolina' (BB-55) is the first ship (of 2. the other 'Washington') of the North Carolina class of fast battleships, being…
