Atlantic Bulk Carrier Corp., a family-owned tank-truck carrier based in Providence Forge, VA, has won the Bulk Carrier of the Year award from AdvanSix.
This is the first award presented by AdvanSix. The chemical company with production facilities in Chester and Hopewell was spun off of Honeywell International in 2017.
The Bulk Carrier of the Year award recognizes the overall performance by Atlantic Bulk and “considered feedback on your safety culture, the ease of doing business, effective communication, flexibility, forward thinking and how you work in partnership with AdvanSix,” according to a statement from Laara Williams, senior director, customer care and supply chain with AdvanSix.
“We are honored to receive this recognition from AdvanSix and recognize the hard work by our professional drivers and all our employees that helped us win this award,” said Gary W. Short, founder and CEO of Atlantic Bulk Carrier.
Atlantic Bulk Carrier transports the dry resin pellets produced by AdvanSix throughout the eastern United States and Canada. The nylon 6 resin is used to produce engineered plastics, fibers, filaments and films that go into making things such as carpeting, electronic components, packaging and fishing nets.
Founded in 1971, Atlantic Bulk Carrier has grown to become the largest tank-truck carrier based in Virginia. The privately held carrier has operations based throughout the Southeast and handles both liquid and dry materials in tanks. Atlantic Bulk Carrier has received numerous awards for performance and safety by customers, industry associations, suppliers and vendors.
