Here we are, the final month of 2023, and here's the first post of the month!
First up, we have RNCX 1869 "City of Durham" , an EMD F59PH for the NCDOT, who're headquartered in Raleigh, NC.
1869 was built in December of 1988 (35 this month, actually) for GO Transit (Government of Ontario) as GOT 535.
Another NCDOT F59PH, this time RNCX 1984 "City of Kannapolis".
This one was built in July of 1990, and similar to 1869 above, also started out in Canada - it was built for GO Transit as GOT 552, then went to Agence Metropolitaine de Transport (of Quebec) as AMT 1346. AMT sold it to the NCDOT.
Here's Norfolk Southern NS 3048, an EMD GP40-2 built in April of 1979 as Conrail CR 3364.
NS is headquartered in Atlanta, GA.
Here we have Canadian Pacific CP 384792. Just a hopper, but the classic "Multimark" logo, or "Pac-Man" logo, is a catch I was happy to get.
CP is/was headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. CP is a very recent "fallen flag"; since their merger with KCS (Kansas City Southern) it's now CPKC - Canadian Pacific Kansas City.
And wrapping up today's round we have RJCR 3817, an EMD GP38-2 for RJ Corman, whose headquarters are in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
3817 has a very extensive and well traveled history - originally built in October of 1972 for Louisville & Nashville as LN 4096, it would become Seaboard System SBD 4096 after the "Family Lines" mergers, then change to SBD 2605. That's not the end though - after more corporate finagling it became CSX 2605. It would then move west and become Southern Pacific SP 4869, and eventually SP sold it off to Helm Financial and it became HLCX 3815. And from Helm it went to RJ Corman.
Thanks for looking!
Never heard it called the PAC Man logo but it definitely fits.
