On what would typically be the last day of the month, if it was not a leap year, here's 5 more trains for your viewing pleasure...
First, the "City of Burlington", RNCX 1893, an EMD F59PH originally built in February of 1990 as GOT 540.
I've heard the NCDOT is purchasing some new locos and cars sometime in the next couple years - I hope they change the paint scheme. The front third looks fine with the blue and all, but the back with the gray isn't that great - I've always though the gray like this (such as ATSF "Warbonnet") just looks like primer that they didn't paint. And a large expanse of light color on a loco doesn't stay clean for long.
Next, another EMD, this time an SD40-2 for Norfolk Southern, NS 3316. This one was built as Southern SOU 3316 in May of 1979, and would've had a high short hood, which NS chopped/lowered in 2013 or 14.
NS 6324, an EMD SD40E. This one was built in November of 1983 as an SD50 for Conrail, CR 6700, and after the CR split between NS and CSX it became NS 5400. NS would rebuild it to SD40E specs in September 2010.
NS 5400, a GE AC44C6M which I could find no info on, but it would've been rebuilt within the past few years from a GE C4X-X series loco, such as a C40-9.
And lastly, NS 7125, an EMD GP60 built for NS in September of 1991.
These have been demoted considerably - they were intended to handle fast, high priority freight, such as intermodal and stacks, but are now handling locals.
Thanks for looking!
Not sure I’m a fan of that chopped hood - nice catches
