Hello folks, welcome to another round of train photos - I hope you enjoy!
First today, from CSX, we have CSX 840, a GE ES44AC-H built in May of 2008.
CSX is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida.
Next, from Norfolk Southern, we have NS 7672, another GE, this one an ES40DC. It was built in September of 2007 as an ES44AC, and was downgraded into its current rating.
NS is headquartered in Atlanta, GA.
Also from NS, we have 707, an RP-E4C. It was originally built in August of 1969 as a GP38 for Penn Central as PC 7743, then went to Conrail as CR 7743, then on to NS as 2919. At some point it lost its prime mover and became a slug, as we see here.
The above shot is actually a going away shot - they were shoving a train into Pomona Yard in Greensboro, NC.
This was the "front", or the leading part.
ADMX 15671, a tanker for Archer-Daniels-Midland, who're headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Note the two crew members "riding the shove", as its known.
As a side note ADM has quite a colorful history - I recommend checking it out. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADM_(company)
And appropriately wrapping up this batch is Seaboard System SBD 016446. Seaboard is part of the CSX family, and where the "S" in CSX originates. Note the plated over windows - this is no longer used as a caboose, but is rather what's known as a shoving platform.
Much like the situation with the ADM tanker above, sometimes long backwards movements are needed to place cars, and this gives them a safe platform to ride on when doing shoving on a regular basis for longer distances.
This thing looks terrible; the vandalism is bad enough, but wow is this thing rough!
That's all for today, thanks for looking!
Yes that thing looks terrible but glad to see the older units still hanging around and being useful
